Northbridge, Sydney

Sydney’s “other” Long Bay!

Yep! Sydney’s well known prison, Long Bay, is in fact miles away from this tranquil, leafy suburb on the north shore of Sydney. Northbridge gets it’s name from being ‘north of the bridge’ - Not Sydney Harbour Bridge, but a beautiful old stone suspension bridge built in 1892 once called North Sydney Bridge and now Long Gully Bridge. The land under the bridge was reclaimed and is now Tunks Park, a multi-sport venue for schools and clubs with cricket, soccer, rugby league and just plain old fashioned family ball games constantly underway! The view from Tunks Park across the water changes from brilliant to perfect as dawn gives way to day and day gives way to twilight! Well worth a relaxing walk through and sit and stay a while!
