Here's the real drum on eating out in

Sydney -

it's cheap as chips and yummmmmyyyy!!

Unless you have a master chef or wonder cook in

the family who can whip up a storm from what's

left in Old Mother Hubbard's Cupboard - EAT

It's often cheaper eating out in Sydney and the

variety of food can be mind blowingly tasty!

Are you ready for the Food Spy Team?!

change, start salivating and let's go get something

really nice to eat!

You'll even have enough change left over for a

great Australian "value" bottle of wine or three!

(Stay tuned! - We'll soon be telling you which

value wines to try!)

Lemongrass Thai

395 Crown Street Surry Hills

This is a fresh and fragrant eatery with seriously nice Thai food (with

perhaps a hint of other interesting influences).

Play around with the entre’s - all tasty!

Then go the Spicy Fried Rice, Yellow Curry, Laksa - breathe in!

Now say “Delicious Chicken”! - Yep! - Name says it all!!

389 Crown Street Surry Hills

Squeeze out of Lemongrass Thai Restaurant past the longest queue

you’ve ever seen for Gelato. Didn’t stop to find out - too thirsty! - but

judging from the happy folk lining up, this place must blow your socks

A pie to die for - Sydney style!

99 George Street at the Rocks.

Put a big smile on your happy face before you get there

because there are fabulous smiles all around!

Now! Hear goes! Ask for your steak pie "takeaway!" like a true local - Grab

your big fat warm and tasty looking paper bag and try and focus on other

things besides the hearty aroma so you can cross the road in safety - Wander

down to the waterfront and feast your face while you feast your other senses

on the sensational Circular Quay scenes!

Brekky just the way

Sydney-siders like it!

Market City in Chinatown

Bacon, eggs, sausage, warm toast with butter just melted,

tomato and a coffee at just the right temperature - all for under

ten bucks and with a happy smile to boot! - Can't beat this

Sydney Brekky!

Here's how to get there -

Get yourself down to Market City (atop Paddy's Market

in the Chinatown quarter) - wander up to the top floor food hall -

stare straight ahead and a little to your left - the sign says "all

day breakfast" - that's it! - You can't miss it!

The food hall only comes alive at about 10am but this lovely little

food corner serves brekky from around eight -

Sheesh! Feels good!

Check these out!

Many many good value restaurants reviewed each week by

The Volunteer Food Spy Team!

Sydney Dumpling King

183E Burwood Road Burwood 02 9701 0055

Handmade dumplings and wontons "crafted" on the premises.

Just absolutely scrumptious and so obviously fresh!

These are as good as any we've tasted in any eastern kitchen

anywhere in the world, including street markets.

Hong Ha Rolls

1151 Botany Road Mascot

Too late! This one has already been discovered big time!

You will have to queue to be fed!

But no worries! The queue moves along pretty quick and almost always good natured

because they all know that when they reach the end of the line, the wait will have been

worth it!

Trully! These rolls are just awesome!

The bread rolls are crumbly and super fresh (grabbed as they jumped out the oven and

tried to get away!) and the chicken . . . Oh! the chicken!

Sorry! Gotta go! I want my Hong Ha roll right now!!!

Stop a while in Surry Hills!

OK! OK! OK! If you’re lucky like us, you’ll meet with beautiful friends on Crown Street - big hugs! - drinks at The Clock Hotel

(friendly place, big smiles, good service) - dinner at the Lemongrass - back to the Clock Hotel for more drinks - more big hugs

from said friends! - cab home smiling satisfactionately!

OK! OK! OK! Even if you don’t have beautiful friends, Surry Hills is great! - It’s a friendly, inclusive, accepting sort of place

where even the Bombay Duckmeister can get served without a nudge and a giggle! - You will make friends here!
